Gain insight and understanding into the oldest living culture on earth by experienced Aboriginal guides on this small group tour in Tropical North Queensland.
Visit the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre and be welcomed by a Traditional Custodian of the land with a Welcome to Country smoking ceremony. Enjoy some time in the art gallery before continuing into the rainforest. Wander through the lush Manjal Dimbi (Mossman Gorge), home of the Kuku Yalanji rainforest people. Experience one of the world’s oldest and most beautiful rainforests and take an easy walk across boardwalks, tracks and bridges that protect this delicate ecosystem.
Back at the Gorge’s Cultural Centre you will enjoy lunch at the Mayi (food) Café before heading to Janbal Art Gallery where you’ll be greeted by resident artist Brian ‘Binna’ Swindley. He will share how histories, stories and dreamtime culture are told through traditional art. Binna will introduce you to traditional aboriginal painting techniques as you create your own canvas to take with you as a reminder of this special day. After your art class journey back to your hotel or accommodation along the scenic coastal road.
