Located 360km west of Cairns on the Savannah Way in the outback of Tropical North Queensland, Talaroo Hot Springs is Australia’s only known tiered thermal hot spring.
The Talaroo Hot Springs experience combines the culture and hospitality of Ewamian people with one of North Queensland’s most unique and globally significant geological wonders.
Talaroo is one of only two mound springs in Australia and the only one not fed by the Great Artesian Basin but from water seeping from kilometres underground which is heated by hot granite rocks. At Talaroo, this water takes an incredible 20,000 years from falling as rain in the nearby Newcastle ranges to emerging from the Springs.
Talaroo’s outback caravan park and campground offers powered and unpowered sites around purpose-built amenities and a camp kitchen. It is just 300 metres from the beautiful Einasleigh River and a stone’s throw from the spectacular Hot Springs where you can join a discovery tour and soak in the soothing thermal waters.
